All classes celebrated the sixtieth anniversary of the State of Israel

A festive mood filled the air on Yom Ha'Atzmaut as all classes celebrated the sixtieth anniversary of the State of Israel. The children sang and danced at a Schlock Rock concert and chagigah and participated in various lessons incorporating many skills. They climbed through an obstacle course while pretending to be doing IDF training maneuvers and following orders in Hebrew of their mifakedet (commanding officer). They learned about Israel's geography and walked the land on a giant floor map of Israel. Israeli history and culture were incorporated into a Bingo-type game and several classes created their own "Israel Museum" with Israeli products and treasures that they brought from home. Each class decorated a sheet cake with a map of Israel, highlighting Jerusalem, Eilat, the Dead Sea and the Israeli city for which their class is named. Everyone enjoyed a festive lunch, including blue and white cupcakes and, of course, falafel!
